It's always nice to find old British made stuff lying around Malaysia like this. This old Bedford fire truck was parked up beside a local fire station in a sleepy little coastal town. The station is manned purely by local volunteers and funded by the community. One of the crew worked just over the road from the station, and when he saw us taking pics of the old Bedford, was nice enough to give us a mini tour of the facility itself.

Inside the station they had 3 other appliances, including an old hand crank siren, which was allegedly originally used to warn against the impending arrival of the Japanese, as they swept down through Malaya back in WW2.

As for the old Bedford fire truck, I was told the last time this old girl saw action was back in 1971.
