Court
yard and cook house:- (#24 #25
on the layout map)
I only
found this area on my 2nd visit, this is the highest point on
site. There is a large concrete courtyard and this is what I assume
are the described badminton and basketball courts as mentioned
on certain tourist(y) sites .
Looking beyond the court yard there is a ruin of a building. The
concrete foundations and walls still remain. The rest of the building
must have been made from wood which has long since rotted away.
I think this must have been the cookhouse and general mess area.
The cookhouse is split into 3 main sections. On the left side
is a small toilet area, fitted out with local style squat toilets.
In the middle section are some small ovens with 3 slender chimney
stacks out the back. The right section seemed to be the main kitchen
which has a long slender concrete basin.
Out the back of the cookhouse near the chimney stacks are two
air raid trenches made from concrete. This whole area on the hill
is covered in super thick lalang making it impossible to properly
see what else there was.
I
wanted to take more pictures but was then set upon by Red Ants
and so I made a hasty retreat...
